The famous Monstera deliciosa, the queen of all houseplants. This house plant is more commonly known as the Swiss cheese plant. It is a split-leaf philodendron native to tropical forests of southern Mexico. This plant thrives in warm and humid weather where it has the potential to grow over 10 feet tall.
This species of Monstera is my favourite for many reasons. The leaves do not grow as big as its cousin, the deliciosa but they are a lush green color and make the plant look a little less leggy. They can be easily propgated by leave cuttings or by root division. Place in a warm area and water every few weeks for the best results.
This lovely plant is not acctually a true Monstera. I bet your hoping its a little easier to care for than it is to pronounce. Well unfortunately it can be a little needy. The mini Monstera is a great climber, it would really love a moss pole to cling on to. Under the right conditions this wonderful house plant will thrive and produce beautiful fenestrated leaves.
